Description

The Neoplasm table is made up of six columns that can be confusing.  Although selecting from the primary and secondary columns may be easy to discern, the first question to be asked is should you be utilizing the neoplasm table at all?  If you have a lump or mass that your provider is removing- what do you really know about it?  Actually – NOTHING when it comes to cell type which is what the neoplasm table is all about.
If your provider is uncertain or their diagnosis is unspecified, the neoplasm table may not be the place you should be turning to.
Learn when and how this complex coding table should be used to avoid assigning an incorrect diagnosis and one with potential damaging consequences to the patient.  Once these six columns are no longer confusing to you, assigning codes for tissue will be more accurate and more efficient!!

  • What is the proper use of each column of the Table
